Explanation:

Initial velocity(u)= 25 m/s

Final velocity(v)= 0

Time( t)= 5 s.

By the first law of motion;

v = u + at

0= 25+ a×5

5a= - 25

a= -5

Acceleration = 5m/s²

The negative sign symbolizes that it's retardation( Acceleration in opposite direction).

Force = mass × Acceleration

F = 1000 kg × 5 m/s²

Force = 5000 N(Ans)

\sf\small\green{Given:-}

  • m = 1000 kg.

  • u = 25 m/s.

  • a = ?

  • s = 5 second.

\sf\small\green{Find:-}

  • calculate the acceleration of the vehicle if it is stopped in5 second by applying brakes on it also find force applied by brakes.

\sf\small\green{Solution:-}

Now, Acceleration

\rm\rightarrow \: v = u + at

\rm\rightarrow \: 0 = 25 + a.5

\rm\rightarrow \:  - 25 = 5a

\rm\rightarrow \: a =  \frac{ - 25}{5}

\rm\dashrightarrow \purple{ - 5 \frac{m}{s}  ^{2} }

Now, Apply Brake

\rm\rightarrow \: force = mass \times acceleration

\rm\rightarrow \: f = 100 \times s

\rm\dashrightarrow \purple{5000 \: N}

 \rule{25mm}{2mm}
