A vegabond runs out of cigarettes. He searches for the stubs, having learnt that six stubs can make a new cigarette, good enough to be smoked. He gathers 36 stubs. If he smokes one cigarette every one-quarter of an hour, how long will his supply last?

Answer:

1.5 hours (option c)

Step-by-step explanation:

6 stubs made = 1 cigratte

1 stub made = 1/6 cigratte

36 stubs made = 1/6* 36 = 6 cigrattes....

now.....

there are 4 quarters in an hour

so.. 1 cigratte is smoked in 1 quarter

then in 4 quarters 4 cigrattes can be smoked..

there are 6 cigrattes

4 cigrattes smoked in 1 hour

2 more cigrattes = 30 min..

so.. 6 cigrattes can be smoked in 1.5 hours....

thank you

hope it helps ❤️❤️
