Answer:

a) Rs. 4500 profit

b) 46 total bags sold  ( 40 potato bags and 6 onion bags )

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Profit for selling 1 bag of onion = 200

so profit for selling 30 bags of onions = 200 x 30 = 6000

loss for selling 1 bag of potato = 30

so loss for selling 50 bags of potatoes = 30 x 50 = 1500

difference between profit and loss = 6000 - 1500 = 4500

so there is a profit of Rs. 4500

b) loss for selling 1 bag of potato = 30

loss on selling 40 bags of potatoes = 30 x 40 = 1200

required profit such that there is no profit or loss = 1200

profit on selling 1 bag of onion = 200

required number of onion bags = required profit / profit per bag

= 1200 / 200

= 6

therefore 6 bags of onions have to be sold so that shopkeeper makes no profit nor loss

Total number of bags sold = 46 bags ( 40 potato bags and 6 onion bags )
