The weight of the bags are 18 kg and 13 kg.

Explanation:

Let x = Weight of one bag.

y= Weight of another bag.

As per given , we have

A vegetable seller has 31 kg of onions.

i.e. x+y=31    (1)

He distributes the onions in two bags such that one bag weighs 5

kg more than the other.

x=y+5   (2)

Put value of x from (2) in (1) , we get

y+5+y=31

2y=31-5=26\Rightarrow\ y=13

Put value of y in (2) , we get x=13+5=18

Therefore , the weight of the bags are 18 kg and 13 kg.
