Given:

A vegetable seller sells 8 lemons at ` 20 by buying 10 lemons at ` 20. The profit percentage of the vegetable seller is?

To find:

The profit percentage of the vegetable seller is?

Solution:

The C.P. of 10 lemons = Rs. 20

∴ The C.P. of 1 lemon = Rs. \frac{20}{10} = Rs. \:2

The S.P. of 8 lemons = Rs. 20

∴ The S.P. of 1 lemon = Rs. \frac{20}{8} = \frac{5}{2} = Rs.\:2.5

Now,

The profit percentage of the vegetable seller would be,

= \frac{Profit}{C.P.} \times 100

= \frac{S.P.\: - \:C.P. }{C.P.} \times 100

= \frac{2.5\: - \:2 }{2} \times 100

= \frac{0.5}{2} \times 100

= 0.25 \times 100

= \bold{25\%} ← option (a)

Thus, the profit percentage of the vegetable seller is → 25%.
