Answer:

There is an easy way to think of that, its known from Newton that:

Velocity = Distance /Time

In the first case you got 48km/hr for 6hrs if you use the above formula and solve for distance so that Distance =Velocity * Time and patch those numbers in the distance lets call it X ends up being 288km

Now on the second case where it goes with 72km/hr and the distance keeps beeing the same X=288km you can use the same formula again, this time in place of velocity you use 72km/hr and in place of distance you use 288km, this time solving for Time, its should looks something like Time=288/72=4 and since we never changed it from kms to meters or from hours to minutes or seconds even, The time it takes for it is 4hrs

Given :-

A vehicle running at a speed of 48 km/hr takes 6 hours to complete the journey.

To Find :-

Time taken to cover the same destination at a speed of 72 km/hr

Solution :-

So, We have two cases where the distance to be travelled is same. But the speed and time are not. In case 1 , we are given speed and time so we can find the distance easily. And In the second case we will have distance and speed so we can find the time taken then.

In Case 1 :-

We have,

  • Speed = 48 km/hr
  • Time Taken = 6 hours

So,

Distance = Speed × Time

⇒ Distance = 48 × 6

⇒ Distance = 288 km

In Case 2 :-

We have,

  • Speed = 72 km/hr
  • Distance = 288 km

So,

⇒ Distance = Speed × Time

⇒ Time = Distance / Speed

⇒ Time = 288 / 72

Time taken = 4 hours

Hence, The time taken by the vehicle to travel the same distance at a speed of 72 km/hr is 4 hours.
