Given:-

  • Mass of the vehicle (m) = 1700 kg
  • Acceleration (a) = - 1.5 m/s² (At the direction of motion)

To Find: Force between the vehicle and the road if the vehicle is to be stopped at the given acceleration.

We know,

F = ma

where,

  • F = Force,
  • a = Acceleration &
  • m = Mass.

∴ F = (1700 kg)(- 1.5 kg m/s²)

⇢ F = - 2550 kg m/s²

F = - 2550 N

If we have to stop the vehicle at the given rate of change of velocity, then we need 2550 N force opposing the motion of the vehicle.
