if any body is in constant velocity then , it covers equal distance in equal interval of time .

or
using
v=u+at
10=0+a×5
a=10/5
a=2m/s²

Given:

  • Body at speed of 10 m/s comes to rest in 5 seconds.

To find:

  • Deceleration of the object ?

Calculation:

First of all, the question clearly states that the application of brakes have provided a constant deceleration.

So, let the acceleration be 'a' .

Now, applying EQUATIONS OF KINEMATICS:

v =  u + at

 \implies \: 0 = 10 + a(5)

 \implies \: 5a =  - 10

 \implies \:a =  - 2 \: m {s}^{ - 2}

  • Since deceleration means negative acceleration, we can say :

Deceleration of the object is 2 m/.
