Accelerartion (a) = 2.5 m/s

We know v = u + at

⇒40 m/s = u + 2.5 m/s

⇒ 40 m/s = u + 25 m/s

⇒ u = (40 - 25) m/s

= 15 m/s

∴ initial velocity of the car = 15 m/s
