A vendor is selling eggs in the market. He sells his first customer half his eggs and half an egg, the second
customer half the remaining eggs and half an egg, the third customer half the remaining eggs and half an
egg, and the fourth and last customer half the remaining eggs and half an egg. No eggs were broken. If he
is left with no eggs, how many eggs did the vendor start with?

Answer:

Thus He had 16 eggs

Step-by-step explanation:

Let suppose a vendor has x eggs then

After first customer eggs = x - x / 2 = x/2 eggs

After second customer eggs = x/2 - 1/2 of (x / 2) = x/2 - x/4 = x/4 eggs

After third customer eggs = x/4 - 1/2 of (x / 4) = x/4 - x/8 = x/8 eggs

After fourth customer eggs = 0 eggs

So

If he had 16 eggs then after first customer he had 8 and after second he had 4 and after third 2 and after fourth customer he had zero eggs by selling remaining 2

Thus He had 16 eggs

Answer:

no the answer is 15 eggs

Start with 15 eggs and you would get the eggs with last person to be 1 which ultimately becomes 0 after selling to 4th person
