A verandah 2.2 m wide is constructed all along outside a of room 14 m long and 12.4 m broad. find:
(a) the area of the verandah
(b) the cost of cementing the floor of the verandah at the rate of ₹ 32 per m²​

Width of room =4m, 

Width of verandah which is constructed all along outside of room =2.25m, 

Cost of cementing of verandha = Rs 200 per sq.m

∴, Length of room with verandah=5.5+2.25+2.25=10m

Width of room with verandah=4+2.25+2.25=8.5m

Area of room=Length×Width=5.5×4=22m2

Area of room with verandah= Length×Width=10×8.5=85m2

Area of verandah=Area of room with verandah−Area of room=85−22=63m2

Cost of cementing of verandah=Area×Rate=63×Rs.200=Rs.12600
