a verandah 2 m wide is constructed all around a room of dimensions 8 m 5 m.find the area of the verandah

Dimension of room is 8mx5m
         area of room =8*5m²=40 m²
Area of building including Verandah= (8+4)*(5+4)m²
                                                        =108m²
Area of Verandah=108-40 = 68m²

Solution :
           Area of Room = 8*5 = 40 m²
       Total Area of Room Including Varandah = (8+2+2)*(5+2+2)= 12*9 =108m²
     NOte :-  Because Room is a rectangle and the varandah of 2 m is constructed all around  a room , therefore dimensions of the room including varandah will become 8+2+2 = 12m and 5+2+2 = 9 m.
       Therefore ,

Area of Varandah = total area of room including varandah - area of Room .
                             = 108 m² - 40m²
                             =68m²
