A verandah of width 1.5 m is constructed all along outside a room which is 8 m long and 6.5 m wide. find:
(a) the area of the verandah
(b) the cost of flooring the tiles at the rate of ₹ 25 per m²​

Given :

width of veranda = 1.5m

length of room = 8m

width of room = 6.5m

Cost of flooring = 25 per m²

Solution :

Since the veranda is constructed along outside the room the latter's length will be same. Therefore, the length of veranda = 8m

Then,

(a) Area = l*b

Area of veranda = 8*1.5

= 12 m² ans

(b) Cost = area × cost per m²

Cost of flooring = 12* 25

= 300 ans
