To find : The cost of cementing the floor of this verandah at the rate of Rs 16 per square meter ?

Solution : Let, length of hall be 15 metre and breadth of hall be 10 metre.

Now, by formula of area of rectangle :

⟹ Area of hall = length * breadth

⟹ Area of hall = 15 * 10

⟹ Area of hall = 150 m²

Now, length of hall with 2.5 metre width of varanda is 17.5 metre and breadth of hall with 2.5 metre width of varanda is 12.5 metre.

Now, by formula of area of rectangle :

⟹ Area of hall with varanda

= length * breadth

⟹ Area of hall with varanda

= 17.5 * 12.5

⟹ Area of hall with varanda

= 218.75 m²

Now, to find area of varanda :

⟹ Area of varanda = {Area of hall with varanda} - {Area of hall}

⟹ Area of varanda = 218.75 - 150

⟹ Area of varanda = 68.75 m²

Now, cost of cementing the floor :

⟹ Cost of cementing the floor

= 68.75 * 16

⟹ Cost of cementing the floor

= Rs 1100

Answer : Hence, cost of cementing the floor is Rs 1100.
