Given : flagpole, AB, has a height 42m

BCD lie on ground and is straight line

Angle of elevation from point C = 48°

To Find : Distance between C & D

Solution:

tan ∠D = AB/ BD

=> tan 48° = 42/ BD

=> BD = 42/tan 48°

=> BD = 37.8  m

Segment addition postulate

BC + CD = BD

=> 24 + CD =  37.8  m

=> CD = 13.8  m

Distance between C & D = 13.8  m
