A vertical pedestal stands on the ground and is surmounted by a vertical flagstaff of height 5 m. At a point on the ground the angle of elevation of the bottom and the top of the flagstaff are 30° and 60° respectively. Find the height of the pedestal..​

Given that the Height of Flagstaff =5 m

Now, Let the Height of the Tower be q

and distance of a point from the Tower be x

From △ABC

tan60o=x5+q⇒5+q=x3 \: (1)

and

From △DBC

tan30o=xq⇒x=q3 \: (2)

From (1) and (2)

5+q=3×q3

⇒5+q=3q

⇒2q=5⇒q=2.5

Therefore, Height of Tower =2.5 m
