A vertical stick 20 m long casts a shadow 10 m long on the ground. At the same time, a tower casts a shadow 50 m long on the ground. Find the height of the tower.

Given : A vertical stick 20 m long casts a shadow 10 m long on the ground. At the same time, a tower casts a shadow 50 m long on the ground.

Let x be the height of the tower.

We assume that both stick and tower are standing vertical to the ground making right angle .

At the same time, triangle made by them (Including shadow) will be similar.

Since the sides of two similar figures are proportional.

Then, we have

\dfrac{x}{50}=\dfrac{20}{10}\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=\dfrac{20\times50}{10}=100

Hence, the  height of the tower= 100 m
