A vertical toy 18 cm long casts a shadow 8 cm long on the ground. Then the height of the pole is 108 cm

Solution:

As it is for the same position of sun , ratio of actual height and shadow will be same for all objects.

Let’s assume height of pole = x meters

So we can frame a equation as,

\frac{height of vertical toy}{length of shadow of vertical toy} = \frac{height of pole}{ length of shadow of the pole}

\frac{18}{8} = \frac{x}{48}

Hence \frac{18 \times 48}{8} = 108

Thus height of the pole is 108 meters and correct option is C.
