r1/r2 = p1/p2 √M2/M1

p  α  number of moles

so  

r1/r2 = n1/n2/ √M2/M1  

= 2/1 √  2/32      

= 2/1  √2/16 × 2  

= 2/1 × 1/4 = 1/2

Thus their rate of diffusion is 1 : 2
