A vessel contains milk with 90% pure milk. A part of it is drunk by the maid of the house and replaced with water. The resultant mixture has only 75% pure milk. How much did the maid drink?

let say 100X is the volume

Pure Milk = (90/100)*100X = 90X

let say Y part is drunk

then 0.90Y pure milk is drunk

remaining pure milk = 90X - 0.9Y

90X - 0.9Y is 75 % of 100X

((90X -0.9Y)/(100X ) * 100 = 75

90X - 0.9Y = 75X

15X = 0.9Y

15X = 9Y/10

Y = 150X/9

Y = 300X/18

Y = (3/18)100X

Y = (1/6)100X

1/6 part of solution she drank.
