Given :-

  • A vessel of radius 12 cm filled with Mercury.

  • Surface tension of mercury is 0.4355N/m

To Find :-

  • Force of tension on diametrical line on surface

Solution :-

Given that

  • Radius of vessel, r = 12 cm

So,

  • Diameter of vessel, d = 2r = 24 cm = 0.24 m

  • Surface tension of mercury is 0.4355N/m

We know that,

\rm :\longmapsto\:Surface \:  tension =\dfrac{Force}{Length}

\rm :\implies\:Force = Surface \times  tension \times Length

\rm :\implies\:Force = Surface \:  tension \times diameter

\rm :\implies\:Force = 0.4355 \times 0.24

\rm :\implies\:Force = 1.0452 \times  {10}^{ - 1}  \: N
