Given:

A vibrating body is producing 30 waves in 6 second. The distance between a crest and next trough is 20cm.

To find:

Velocity of waves?

Calculation:

Distance between crest and trough (d) = 20 cm.

So, wavelength = 2 × d = 40 cm = 0.4 m

  • Also, 30 waves are produced in 6 sec. So, in 1 complete wave is produced in 6/30 = 1/5 sec.

  • So, frequency = 1/T = 5 Hz.

 \rm \: wave \: velocity =  \lambda \times f

 \rm \implies \: wave \: velocity =  0.4 \times 5

 \rm \implies \: wave \: velocity =  2 \: m {s}^{ - 1}

So, Wave Velocity is 2 m/s
