A vibrating tuning fork sends sound waves into the air surrounding it.

A tuning fork produces a monotone sound which means that the sound only has one frequency. As we know that sound is a form of energy propogating in the air hence the vibration in the tuning fork sends sound waves in the air surrounding it.
