Answer:

Let the previous population of the village be = x

Population increased by = 3%

Present population of the village = 3605

According to the given situation, we can form an equation :

\tt{x + \frac{3}{100}x = 3605}\\

Taking the LCM

= \tt{\frac{103x}{100} = 3605}\\

Take 100 to RHS

=》 \tt{103x = 360500}

Take 103 to RHS

=》 \huge{\tt{x = 3500}}

\sf{\therefore\: Previous\:Population= 3500}

Solution :

Let the original Population be x

According to the Question :

Population increased by 3%

x + 3% of x = 3605

⇒ x + (3)/(100) * x = 3605

⇒ x + (3 x)/(100) = 3605

\frac{100x+3x}{100} = 3605

x = \frac{3605*100}{103}

⇒ 35 * 100

⇒ 3500

Therefore , the original population of the village was  3500
