Heya mate, Here is ur answer

Let the original population be x.

A/Q

x+ 3% of x = 3605 ( as population increased by 3%)

x +  \frac{3}{100}  \times x = 3605

x +  \frac{3x}{100}  = 3605

 \frac{100x + 3x}{100}  = 3605

 \frac{103x}{100}  = 3605

x =  \frac{3605 \times 100}{103}

x = 35 \times 100

x = 3500

So, the population of town was 3500 .
