A virtual image cannot be focussed on a screen. Yet when we see a virtual image, we obviously bring it to the screen that is retina of our eyes. Is it the contradiction?

No, the lens of the eye converges the divergent beam of light (that produces virtual image) to the retina, thereby forming a real image of the virtual object.
