A visit to a hill station

This scorching summer we sought solace in the peaceful abode of clouds-Meghalaya. In this beautiful hilly state we visited the Capital city of Meghalaya-Shillong.

Shillong is one of the most beautiful hill stations of India. It is often fondly called the 'Scotland of the East' . We put up in a hotel with a name which blended with the green ecology of Shillong- Hotel Pine Wood.

Shillong had a lot to offer to her visitors. There was the Shillong Peak , the highest peak in the Khasi Hills that gave us a bird's eye view of the city.

The Ward Lake provided us an opportunity to boat on a hilly lake. The Umiam Lake was another life time experience. A beautiful and massive lake it is the water reserve of the city.

The innumerable cascades and ravines at Cherrapunji was a traveller's paradise. Rainbow kissed, it displayed a play of spray. So did the many of waterfalls in the heart of Shillong.

I loved the Hydari Park a blend of a children's park and a zoo. I tried my hand at golf at the world famous Golf Links in Shillong.

Time just flew past in the seven day visit to this beautiful hill station. I parted with memories and a promise to the beautiful hill station to return soon.

Here a easy and sober essay for you friend:

During the last summer vacation, I visited Mussoorise with some of my friends. I had never been to hill station before. So it was a new experience for me. There were a large number of visitors.

The presence of foreigners and honeymooners lent an additional charm to the gay atmosphere. Everywhere there was great hustle and bustle. The weather was very pleasant. The scenery all round was very charming.

The fir-clad hills presented a fine view. Rightly has Mussoorie been called the “Queen of Hills”. It transports one into a heaven of joy. It makes one forget about the worries of material life. We visited all the beauty spots in the neighbourhood of Mussoorie. The memory of this visit is still fresh in my mind.
