A wall 9.68 m long and 6.2 m high is covered with rectangular tiles of size 44 cm by 20 cm. Find the total cost of the tiles at the rate of rs 18.50 per tile.

Given :-

Dimensions of Walls :

  • Length = 9.68m = 968cm
  • Breadth = 6.2m = 620cm

Dimensions of Tiles :

  • Length = 44cm
  • Breadth = 20cm
  • Cost of One tile = Rs,18.50

Solution :-

❍ In this question we have to find the Total Cost of the Tiles used. For that we should know the number of tiles used , now firstly we will the number of tiles used by using Number of Tiles = Area of Wall / Area of tile

➞ Area of Wall = Length × Breadth

➞ Area of Wall = 968 × 620

➞ Area of Wall = 6,00,160cm²

⟾ Area of Tile = Length × Breadth

⟾ Area of Tile = 44 × 20

⟾ Area of Tile = 880cm²

⟼ Tiles used = Area of Wall / Area of Tile

⟼ Tiles used = 600160 / 880

⟼ Number of Tiles used = 682

________________

⟹ Cost of 1 tile = Rs,18.50

⟹ Cost of 682 tiles = 18.50 × 682

⟹ Cost of 682 tiles = Rs,12,617

Thus, Total Cost of the Tiles is Rs,12617
