Let the cost of the pen be 'x' and that of watch be 'y'.

By given data..,

x + y = 140... ( i )

Also.., y = 6x.... ( ii )

So to find the cost..,

by substituting ( ii ) in ( i )...

we get, x + y = 140

==> x + 6x = 140

7x = 140 x = 140/7 = 20.

So the cost of a pen is rs.20 and the cost of the watch in 6*20 = rs.120.
