Solution =>
marked price of watch= 8400
sold for = 5040
After two successive discount
First discount = 25%
To find second=
8400*25/100= 2100
8400-2100=6300
6300-5040= 1260
let the second discount be x
then => 6300*x/100=1260
63x=1260
x=20
Hence the second discount = 20% (ans)

Answer:

20%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A watch having marked price as rs 8400 is sold for rs 5040 after two successive discounts.

To Find:  If the first discount is 25% then what is the second discount percentage?

Solution:

Marked price of watch= 8400

First discount = 25%

So, Price after discount = 8400-25\% \times 8400

                                     = 6300

Difference in price after first discount and price after second discount=6300-5040=1260

Net the second discount be x

So, 1260=\frac{x}{100} \times 6300

1260=63x

\frac{1260}{63}=x

20=x

Hence the second discount is 20%
