A watch sold for ₹448 gives a profit of only 12%. find the profit % if the selling price had been ₹512.

Solution:-
Let the Cp be x
Gain =12℅
SP= x + 12℅ of x
 =  > x + 12\%of \: x = 448 \\  =  > x +  \frac{12}{100}x = 448 \\  =  >  \frac{100x + 12x}{100}   = 448
 =  >  \frac{112x}{100}  = 448 \\  =  > x =  \frac{100 \times 448}{112}  \\  =  > x = 400
Now,
Cost Price =400
Selling Price = 512

Since,CP<SP
It is a gain

So,
Gain=SP-CP
 =  &gt; 512 - 400 \\  =  &gt; 112
And,
gain\% =  \frac{gain}{cp}  \times 100 \\  =  &gt;  \frac{112}{400}  \times 100 \\  =  &gt; 28
Hence,
The gain is 28℅
