A water balloon was dropped from a window and hit its target 1.1 seconds later. If the balloon left the person’s hand at -5.0 m/s, what was its velocity on impact?

Final velocity = initial velocity+ (the acceleration due to the force of gravity and time)

V = u + gt

V= -5m/s + (-9.8m/s × 1.1)

here note that, gt is negative because the direction is downward

V= -5 + (-10.78 m/s)

V=15.78m/s
