Answer:

the formula to find the real depth is

real death by apparent depth equal to n

we want to find real Depth be x

the apparent depth is 4 metre

the refractive index of the water is 4 by 3

x/4=4/3

x=4/3×4

x=16/3

x=5.3333m

therefore the actual depth of the tank is 5.33 metre

Given,

Refractive index of water = RI = 4/3

The apparent depth of the water tank = A = 4 meters

= 4 m

To find,

The real or actual depth of the water tank (R)

Solution,

We can simply solve this numerical problem by using the following process:

As per the principles of ray optics and refraction,

Refractive index of = Real depth of the tank(R) /

Refractive index of = Real depth of the tank(R) / water in a tank (RI) Apparent depth of the

tank(A)

Now,

RI = R÷A

i.e., R = RI x A

= 4/3 x 4 meters

= 16/3 meters

= 5.33 meters (approx.)

Hence, the actual depth of the water tank is approximately 5.33 meters.
