A water tank has a capacity of 25.25 kl.an inlet pipe allows 5 kl and 25 litres in an hour.an outlet pipe will empty the tank at the rate of 2.5 kl in an hour.if the tank is empty and accidentally both the pipes are simultaneously opened,will the tank be filled? if it fills,how much of water will be filled in one hour? how long will it take to fill the tank completely?

Answer:

rate of the inlet pipe= 5.25 kl/h

rate of outlet pipe= 2.5

rate of filling the tank in one hour if both the pipes are open= 5.24kl/h-2.5 kl/h= 2.74 kl/h

time it will take to fill completely = 25.25kl/2.74kl/h

= 9h (approx.)
