Pipe B fills in = 4 hrs

Pipe B fills in 1- hrs = 1/4

Both together fills in =2.4 hrs

Both together fills in 1 hrs = 1/24

Pipe A alone fills part of tank in 1/hrs=1/2.4-1/4

= ( 5-3 )/ 12

= 2/12

= 1/16

So pipes fill the tank alone in 6 hrs pipes. A fills 100 litre per hour

So, in 6 hrs it will fill 100×6 = 60 litrs

Hence, capacity of tank is 600 litres
