GIVEN:-

A water tank is 55% full.

If it holds 3190 litres of water,

TO FIND:-

Capacity of the water tank.

SOLUTION:-

The water tank is 55%, or 55/100, of the way full. That means all we need to do is multiply by the inverse of 55/100, which would be 100/55. Here are the steps laid out:

3190 × 100 / 55

= 319000 / 55

= 5800

This means that the total capacity of the water tank is 5800 litres.

Given:-

  • A water tank is 55% full. If it holds 3190 litres of water.

To find:-

  • Capacity of the water tank.

Solution:-

★ One way of calculating that is to double the 3190 litres which is 6380 but is 110% of the volume divide that by 11 and you get 580 , multiply that by 10 and you get 5800 litres when the tank is full. Since the first number was odd by doubling it I got an even number that was divisible by 10 and then simply minus one tenth which is the difference between that figure and 100% . If the first figure was 65% then I would of doubled that figure, which would of been 130% , divided that by 13 and that multiplied by ten to get the 100% volume again.

According to the question,

⇢ 3190 × 100/55

⇢ 319000/55

5800

Hence,

  • The capacity of water tank is 5800 litres.
