Given:

A watered circular field is inscribed in a square field.

The field has a side of 500m.

To Find:

Find the area of the land that is not watered.

Solution:

Find the area of the square field:

Area of a square = Length x Length

Area of the square = 500 x 500

Area of the square = 250000 m²

Find the area of the circular field:

Area of a circle= πr²

Area of the circle = π(500÷ 2)²

Area of the circle = 196429 m²

Find the area that is not watered:

Area not watered = 250000 - 196429

Area not watered = 53571 m²

Area not watered = 54000 m² (nearest thousand)

Answer: 54000 m²
