The velocity of a wave (v) = λf. Equation 1

Where λ = wave length of the wave, f = frequency of the wave.

Given: λ = 8 m, and

f = 1/t where t = period.

t = 1.2 s

f = 1/1.2 = 0.83 hertz

Substituting these values into equation 1

v = 8 × 0.83

v = 6.64 m/s.

Therefore the speed of the wave = 6.64 m/s.
