Chest breathing, Repetitive thought patterns, Clenching the jaw, and shrugged shoulders, all are ways of wasting or losing energy.

  • Chest breathing involves two processes - Inspiration and Expiration. Inspiration is an active process, i.e., it requires energy. The diaphragm muscles need energy for contraction to increase the volume of the thoracic cavity. Expiration is passive process because no energy is required for diaphragm muscles to relax.
  • Repetitive thought patterns (or negative thoughts), distract the mind from important things and focus on unwanted thoughts. This will lead to fatigue and draining of energy.
  • Clenching jaw involves the temporomandibular joints (TMJs), jaw muscles, and neck muscles, which consumes energy in the process.
  • Shrugging of shoulders also require also involves various muscles such as Trapezius, upper back and neck muscles and hence consuming energy in the process.

Hence (e) all of the above mechanisms waste or lose energy.
