a weather of coastal city is milderate but why at same latitude the weather of desert city is not same??

In desert the sand gets heated faster and there is not much water body to cool down the sand which is heated due to the Sun's heat .
But in coastal areas land gets heated faster and there is enough amount of water bodies around it to absorb the heat vapours and cool down the heated land faster .
Thus coastal city is milderate than the weather in desert city at the same latitude .
