A wedge shaped thin film of air between two glass plates gives equally spaced dark fringes using reflected sodium light which are 0.22 mm apart. when monochromatic light of another wavelength is used the fringes are 0.24 mm apart . calculate the wavelength of the secondary source, given that the sodium light is 589nm

Answer:

Hence the fringes in wedge shaped film is straight. In a newton's ring set up the air film is enclosed below the convex lens. The thickness of the film is constant over a circle (or concentric circles) having center at the center of the lens. Hence the fringes are circular.
