A Week without transport and communication

In this day and age, it is unimaginable to think that one would be without transport and communication for a week. This is particularly the case for the urban population. Quite frankly, the week would appear to be as long as a year.
One would not be able to go to school, college, university or office. Essential supplies, like foodstuff and medicines, would not come to the local market or shops. Telephone and electronic communication have become so much a part of our lives that people would go crazy without these functioning.
The end result would be that the people will end up being like a marooned population in an island, waiting to be rescued by the Government!
