Market is a place where we buy things of our need. A weekly market is held on a particular day at a particular place.

Generally, it is head from the second half of the day and continues till late evening. At some places it is wrapped up at late night. A weekly market is common both in villages and cities. Things of day-to-day necessity are sold in a weekly market. People from the adjoining area visit the market and buy things of their need and choice.

Shops in Indian weekly market are of traditional nature. Green grocers are confined to a portion of the market. A trader dealing in clothes arranges his shop where there are cloth traders. A trader squats upon a piece of cloth, which he spreads on the ground and displays his wares in front of him. Almost every shop is similar in nature. There is crowd in front of each shop. Shops dealing in jewelleries and cosmetics are particularly crowded. The shopkeeper is busy selling in his wares. Various items are already packed and therefore the merchants usually do not need scales to measure or weigh them. In a weekly market people buy breads and cakes. The shopkeepers keep the freshly baked bread, cakes, rolls, biscuits and pastries in the glass cases. Cleanliness is taken care of. Normally the shopkeepers have a roaring business in a weekly market.
