A weightlifter lifts weights through a height of 50 cm. Calculate the work done to lift 100 N. Give the unit.

as we know,

w=f×s

displacement = 50 cm =50/100=0.5m

work done for potential energy=mgh

= 100x0.5. (f=ma or mg)

hence the work done is 50 joules
