A well having 3.5 diameter and 20 m deep is to be dug in a rectangular field 20 m by 14 m the earth taken out of it has been spread evenly all around the well to the width of 2 metre to form an embankment find the height of the embankment

DIAMETER = 2× RADIUS = 2× r = 3.5m
SO, RADIUS = 3.5/2 m

NOW , VOLUME OF WELL = pie × r × r × h
= 22/7×3.5/2×3.5/2×20=192.5m3

SO, VOLUME OF EMBANKMENT = VOLUME OF WELL
192.5 = l×b×h
192.5 = 20×2×h
192.5/40 = h
SO, h = 4.8125m

THEREFORE HEIGHT OF EMBANKMENT WILL BE 4.8125m .
