Height of the embankment = 9.33 cm.

Given:

A well of diameter 6m

Dug 21 m deep.

Spread evenly all around it in the shape of a circular ring of width 9m

To find:

Height of the embankment.

Formula used:

Volume of cylinder = \frac{\pi }{4} × (Diameter)² × Height

Explanation:

Volume of the well duged in the earth = \frac{\pi }{4} × (Diameter)² × Height

                                                                = \frac{\pi }{4} × (6)² × 21

                                                                =593.73 cm³

This can be filled in a circular ring of width = 9 cm.

That is diameter of circle = 9 cm.

Height of embankment is asked.

so that it can be formed in cylinder

Volume of embankment  = Volume of the well duged in the earth ....Given

Volume of embankment  = \frac{\pi }{4} × (Diameter)² × Height

                            593.73  = \frac{\pi }{4} × (9)² × Height

                            Height = 9.33 cm.

Height of the embankment = 9.33 cm.
