Answer

Given:

Depth of the well, h = 8.4m

Inside diameter of the well = 10m

Width of an embankment. = 7.5 m

To find: the height of the embankment.

We know that radius is half of the diameter.

Hence, radius r of well can be calculated as,

Hence, radius of the well = 5m.

Now, it is also given that depth of well h = 8.4 m

Volume of earth dugout can be calculated as,

Volume V

Thus, we have volume of earth dug out.

We assume h' is the height of embankment

We know that,

Inner radius of the cylindrical shell is 5 m

External radius of the cylindrical shell is 12.5m

Therefore, we can write the colume of the embarkmet as,

Volume of the embankment

But, we know that volume of the earth that was dugout will be same as volume of embarkment

Thus, we can write that volume of earth dugout = volume of the embankment

The height of the embankment is 1.6m
