a) The stranger's hat attacked Mrs Hall's face. The chair jumped, came to life and charged at Mrs Hall's face. The chair threw the couple outside. Mrs Hall thought that her furniture was haunted and it was the stranger who had put spirits in them.
e) When the stranger's luggage arrived at inn. It was brought by Fearenside, the cartman, who owned a dog. The stranger, muffled in hat, coat and gloves and wrapper, came out of his room impatiently to reach cart. When fearenside's dog looked at the stranger, it began to bristle and growl at him savagely.
