a) What happens when an aqueous solution of sodium sulphate reacts with an aqueous solution of bar ium chloride? State the physical conditions of reactants in wch the reaction between them will not take place. Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction and also mention the type of reaction. (b) What changes in the colour of iron nails and copper sulphate solution do you observe after keeping the iron nails in copper sulphate for about half an hour.

Hey dear !!!
Here is your answer :-
(a) When aqueous solution of Sodium sulphate is added to barium chloride then a white precipitate is formed
Sodium sulphate+ Barium Chloride ---- Sodium Chloride + Barium sulphate
It's chemical equation :-
Na2SO4(aq) + BaCl2(aq) ----- 2NaCl(aq) + BaSO4(s)
In this reaction, sulphate (SO2-) ions displace chlorine (Cl1-) ions and chlorine (Cl1-) ions displace sulphate (SO2-) ions
Since the reaction involves the displacement of two chemical species, therefore, it is known as *Double* *Displacement* *reaction*
These reactions usually occurs in the iconic compounds.
NOTE: Barium sulphate is formed as am insoluble white solid, which is termed as WHITE PRESPITATE

Now,
(b) We will observe that iron nails will starts to turn reddish brown in colour and the solution of copper sulphate that was earlier dark blue in colour will starts to fade and will get converted into light green colour.
This is due to displacement of copper by iron from the copper sulphate solution.
