(a) What happens when potted plants are overwatered ?

- If a potted plant is over-watered for a long time, then the plant may die because too much water expels all the air from in-between the soil particles and water is not available for aerobic respiration.

(b) Name any two parts of plant used for exchange of gases other than leaves.

- closing and opening of Stomata.

Explanation:

  • If a potted plant is over-watered , then the plant may die because too much water expels all the air from in-between the soil particles and water is not available for aerobic respiration

To parts of a plant through which exchange of gases take place are:

- Stromata cells: They are present on the surface of leaves round mouth like openings protected by another bean like structures called guard cells. They perform the exchange of gases between plant and the environment.

- Lenticles: These are small openings which are present on the surface of stem for the exchange of gases.
